good idea. my experience though w/pallets on ground is that they deteriorate quickly leaving lots of hardware on the ground ready to penetrate tires. like the quick & easy method discussed here of 4x4 or larger over 6 mil plastic. maybe a few layers. best regards

I have some really tough plastic pallets that came out of a dumpster at the local grocery store like new condition. They are indestructible.
sounds very effective, better than the std wooden ones i've used

I use old tires to park the mower on. They're pretty indestructible, easy to align underneath and don't sink much.

I too use plastic pallets, great stuff. Condensation is the killer on metal, especially when cooler weather comes. Because I use a quick hitch now, I poured a slab for all my rear tools to set on making it easy to backup and connect when everything is level. The pallets make things easy to see too as the pins are higher off the ground. This winter, I hope to build a roof over it all using plywood and black paper then metal panels over that. This method keeps everything dry and no condensation underneath the roof in cold weather.

I’m going to leave our rotary mower out in a field this winter. I was going to put a tarp under it, space it up on some logs, and cover it with another top.

I've been storing my RC 4+ months a year under a rickety open sided shed with a dirt floor for the last 9-years on top of cinder blocks and have never noticed significant rust when I sharpen the blades. I'm sure the surface rust is quickly removed the first time you mow. Before storing I do power wash the RC, change the gear oil and spray paint on bare metal, also I but a 5-gallon bucket over the gear housing to prevent moisture getting in through the vent.
