Rotary Cutter Bush hog, no gear oil in box!

I checked mine last year and it was very low, but not empty.. My problem was that the pressure relief valve on the top of the gear box wasnt working and it appears it built up pressure and forced the oil out around the seals.. I replaced the valve and refilled the gear box and have not had any problems so far.. Luckily the seals were not damaged. I checked it several weeks back but need to check it again..
