JD 790
I am getting close to buying a back hoe for my 790. I had already convinced myself that a sub frame was necessary after reading horror stories here on TBN of tractor trannies snapping in half from using 3PT models. I went to my dealer who sells a ton of Bush Hog equipment and only JD tractors. He says he has NEVER had a JD tractor come in damaged from using a 3PT hoe. He had awards hanging on the wall from Bush Hog for something like 14 years running as one of their biggest dealers in the USA. We went out back and he had over a dozen 3PT hoes in stock on palletts in various sizes. This was my first time up close to a small hoe in the size range for my tractor. The hoe seemed way overbuilt. There was nothing thin, cheap or weak looking about it. Massive steel. 684# w/o the bucket. Here is my question. How does everyone feel about a Bush Hog 665 3PT hoe on a new JD 790? By the way, I asked about a JD #7 upon arrival and was told the last one they sold was about 5 years ago. They sell about a dozen hoes per month from Bush Hog. The Bush Hog 665 was $1600 cheaper than the JD#7. I assume that has a lot to do with non existant sales for the #7
