Bump up lift capacity of L3400/LA463 Loader

Just about all manufacturers sell their sub-compacts and compacts running @ about 2,700psi from the factory, using comparable components.
I have no idea why Kubota sets theirs so low. I bumped mine @ 2,650psi few years ago, and she has been great!

Only thing is, I had to increase the weight of my counterweight from 1,100 pounds to 1,400, as I started lifting the rear end once I bumped the pressure.
All the ones I'm aware of are 2,500psi or so. Skid steers are generally 3,000psi nominal. Excavators are commonly in the 5,000 range up to 8-10k or something.

A lot of the hydraulic hose you find in the farm stores is rated to 2,500.

34 pages. Could someone that has increased the pressure to the loader put together a "How to" with pictures?

I believe there are YouTube videos. When I did mine the hardest thing was opening the package the washers came in..... It's a really simple process.

Created an account just to say this thread is really great. Couldn't lift a roll of hay....had to scoot it across the ground. For going on 10 years. Found this. Ordered a gauge from Tractor Innovations. My pressure was at 2200psi. I had 3 washers in there mearsuring a combined 2.8 mm. To get an extra 300 psi (for a total of 2500 psi), I knew I needed 3.5mm of shims (washers). I kept combining different washers until I reached 3.5 mm. Put it all back together, and 2500 psi on the nose! Very easy job. I found the washers in my supply of machine screw hardware...they are small. Not sure what size. I changed my fluid/filter at the same time, and found that I had an extra 1.5 gallons in the system.....now it is spot on, so I killed two birds with one stone, so to speak. Great thread and thank you.

Look to Messicks for a video debunking the value of the increase (quoting increases of moderate per cent) saying it's not worth the effort and a section of the video showing the result of one such test by a Youtuber that got a 6% increase on a BX.

AND IF you can use a search engine with a phrase like:
adding shims to kubota loader valve
You should be able to get a page or more of results like:
