Built up a 3pt lift for my chain harrows.

Bought a 6x8 chain harrow set from Tractor Supply last week but needed a 3pt lift so that when I work in my cover crop seed I don't have to worry about pulling it all out of the garden. Most of the lifts I have seen were around $5-600 so I figured I could use up some scrap and come out ahead.
I made the rear so it could pivot up with out an issue. My father has a setup from Wingfield and if the back is set to low or you go through a small gully the frame will bend, especially with his hyd top link.
Now just need to make a couple of kickstands and paint it. It works great and easily lifts the entire harrow off the ground. I will get a picture of it fully lifted tomorrow. Also have the complete cad model in solid works if anyone is interested, just PM me.

nice job! sure beats trying to pick the chain drag up once it loads up with a bunch of garbage (roots, leaves, twigs, dirt clogs, rocks)

"New fangled..." There are a few uses for them. I mainly use mine to spread out my horse's droppings around the paddock that I've shifted them from (I've got 6 paddocks that I rotate them through after they've finished a round bale). The horses are really good at producing fertiliser and the chain harrow is aggressive enough to break up the 'balls', yet gentle enough to not scar the turf. Later on I'll use the lawn tractor to mulch the manure even further.

It'll also work somewhat like a landscape rake for collecting crap/smoothing ground. I've used mine to clean & smooth a horse arena at the the local Pony Club and at the local Rifle Club.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Here is another pictures with the kickstands installed and it lifted off the ground. It was way to windy here to paint today hopefully I can get it done before it rains again.

Hi, with all due respect, chain harrows are indeed an agricultural implement. Used extensively by grassland farmers in the UK as a light scarifier to spread manure, but more particularly to 'comb' the pasture and pull out dead or dying tufts. Regards

Brilliant very nice job ! I drag a old piece of chain link fence around .it breaks up horse manure but since i can't lift it it makes a mess moving between fields

My chain harrow is 12' wide and a struggle to handle between fields. I have to roll it up, then lift it with the FEL. Although having a 3PH lift for it would be convenient, I suspect I'd have trouble with my gates; they are wide enough, but I have to turn fairly sharply coming out of the fields, which could be a problem with a long, wide harrow back there.

if you have rear remotes it would be easy to do one that folds in the middle or wings that fold up with a hyd cylinder.

I like the design, and being able to just lift the 3pt up when going field to field would be great. My biggest concern would be storage. Currently, my brother just hangs his drag on the wall of the barn. Adding a frame might make hanging hard to do, and would take up a lot of room on the floor. Now that fold up ideal might be worth thinking about.

I don't need a chain harrow at the moment. But when I do, I've often thought how easy it would be just to rig it up with my boom pole. I would think it would be simple to hook and unhook it from the boom pole.

If my feeble memory serves, the thread was soon after I joined TBN... March - May of '13.

It wasn't a frame but used 4 chains from the end to pick up the middle & end of the harrow.
