Building vs Truck

With my working realtiontions with a local dealership I can get the DEAL on a new Ford 4X4. Currenlty I'm in a '98 GMC Z-71 with just hit the 100,000 mile mark. It's a good truck but it's due a 100,000 tune up ($300+) and will need tires ($500) in a couple months.
I sure don't miss truck payments at all. I do travel a lot in my truck so having safe and dependable transportion is a priority...Then again I would not be afraid to drive my new truck from here to California (the state, no California, KY).
On the other hand I'm thinking about that building again that'd be oh so handy. Big enough to store my camper on one side, the other side 1/2 garage for the tractor and 1/2 studio for my radio world.
Darn... I hate decisions.

As far as the truck, If It aint broke don't fix it. For the price of a new ford pickup you can build a darn nice shop. I am a ford man, fact is I have 3 of them, but somehow a chevy snuck in, a 1 ton that I built out of 5 others, it is an 81 and I would drive it to califonia and from there to new york if I needed to. I don't mind replacing a 2000 dollar engine as apposed to a 40000 truck.

Stick with the building. In then years that 40,000 dollar truck will be worth a lot less.

I'm getting really nosey on the building too, and leaning hard that way. Waitin' on the Morton man to give me a call now for some size/price info.
I'd love to do a lot of the work myself but there is zero time in my life for major projects these days.

Being in the pole building bussiness. One thing I can say is that Morton does probably the finest (not cheapest )buildings of their types going . Real Quality,and attention to detail .
Even though I do it as a living , If I had the money, they'd build my garage . They're pretty much nation wide and have a very good reputation . (We're local and use them a a standard to get to /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )John

I was happy with the quoted prices, about what I had estimated in my mind..a bit high but quality and looks are very important. I'm nearly convinenced now that I'm gonna have a building now.

You gave an impressice endorsement for Morton.

My good friend is a contractor and I'm gonna have him see what he can build the building for the old fashion way, foundation, stud walls etc.

I understand the time thing pretty well, I've had to hire out some jobs that I wanted to do myself for the very same reason.

Remember, that even if the building isn't #1 in quality, the return on investment will still be better than a new truck.

Looks are really important too. I'm not wanting it to be an outbuilding. My neighbor built a huge garage for his Vettes that's gorgeous my garage will 100 yards or less from his place. He's also building a showplace for his Vettes and a new house in the future.
So, I'm going keep the neighborhood looking nice.
