I know your neighbor is responsible for the wall, but where do you go or who do you contact to get a wall like that built?
I went to the Redi-Rock website and put in a zip code for Grapeland and this is what I got, "Your local retailer is Colin Johnson at Redi-Rock International . Call 423 364 7008 or email cjohnson@redi-rock.com "

Here is the link to their website...

My next door neighbor has an easement along my property line shared with my other neighbor for his driveway. Thirty years ago a railroad tie bulkhead was built about 100ft long and 10ft at the highest. Well it is time to replace and luckily the bulkhead is not my responsibility. The Wall is going to cost about $80K including engineering, blocks, and installation. Best part is that I am the recipient of a bunch of free fill... not only that but the dirt work too. I have no idea how much they are dumping and grading but it's hundreds of yards giving me more useable property. :cool2:

First the tools and the Wall...

The bottom blocks are 5ft deep so they have to cut back the bank a bunch. I am getting a mix of sandy/loam, old drain rock, and a little clay, otherwise pretty clean. The first pic below is the before shot. I built the greenhouse on the edge of the steep bank. Made the mistake of not leaving a foot path all the way around trying to fit it into a limited space. Now a skid steer is filling and grading a wide path around the backside and I can't be happier. This is probably less than 25% of the fill that is coming my way. It is an endless pit so I can take all and more!

I bet you'd be happier if they left the equipment for you to play on :)

Those kinds of walls and that much fill dirt doesn't come around very often! Great score!

Free dirt good!
That's quite a vertical cut in your post #10. Our soils here would not support itself that tall.
I've seen your view before and (again) it's beautiful!

Thank you... and it is... the cut and the view! I have been entertaining bids for various retaining walls to tame my slope, and I have built a couple of serious block walls for my wife's terraced garden, myself. Well I have to say... the better half helped more than I could have ever imagined. There is a thread on this project somewhere here on TBN. The sad fact is that I'm not getting younger and the blocks seem to be getting heavier (and they were 80+lbs back then). :confused3:

So what are your plans to retain all of the new fill? You don't want it slipping away.
Hey easy come, easy go. I dug up this picture from three years ago to give you perspective on the amount of fill coming my way. I'm estimating I have received about 50% of the total haul so far!
