My next door neighbor has an easement along my property line shared with my other neighbor for his driveway. Thirty years ago a railroad tie bulkhead was built about 100ft long and 10ft at the highest. Well it is time to replace and luckily the bulkhead is not my responsibility. The Wall is going to cost about $80K including engineering, blocks, and installation. Best part is that I am the recipient of a bunch of free fill... not only that but the dirt work too. I have no idea how much they are dumping and grading but it's hundreds of yards giving me more useable property. :cool2:

First the tools and the Wall...

The bottom blocks are 5ft deep so they have to cut back the bank a bunch. I am getting a mix of sandy/loam, old drain rock, and a little clay, otherwise pretty clean. The first pic below is the before shot. I built the greenhouse on the edge of the steep bank. Made the mistake of not leaving a foot path all the way around trying to fit it into a limited space. Now a skid steer is filling and grading a wide path around the backside and I can't be happier. This is probably less than 25% of the fill that is coming my way. It is an endless pit so I can take all and more!

Re: Building the Wall!

I just realized I'm going to get a bunch of lookers thinking this is a Trumpian thread! Hey I posted under Projects. I was going to put it under Today Seat Time but it isn't my seat! I wish I could edit the title for fair warning. :D

I know your neighbor is responsible for the wall, but where do you go or who do you contact to get a wall like that built?

I have seen several of the large precast blocks used in walls near me in recent years. They look nice when finished.
Redirock is distributor in my location

Nice looking wall.

The title still looks "Trumpian" though.

And you got your neighbour to pay for it...

The result of which is (as you've said) more access to your land = made it great(er) again!

Those "wall blocks" look to be about the same size as temporary concrete barrier blocks - HUGE.

BTW - I never thought for a moment that this post was Trumpian, Mexican or had anything to do with a wall "down south".

In your case - every once in a while the sun shines and something good will come your way. I can see why this project pleases you.

Nothing nicer then a well built wall!!!! I've never seen those blocks before and I'm always amazed at what's new in wall building. Thanks for the pics!!!

More progress on the Wall today...

And a little more dirt for me! I can now drive around my greenhouse that couldn't walk around a few days ago!
