building a trailer for "hay" rides - any ideas?

Near here last fall a tractor driver drive into a rock quarry on a hay ride and had lots of people hurt. The driver had lived near the quarry all his life but got lost in the dark. It is a great idea and sounds like FUN, but make SURE you have liability coverage or someone who was on the ride may own all you worked for.

I have a 6x9 trailer I load with coolers and people for Halloween and neighborhood functions - you have to really watch the kids- anyone who wants to hang feet over the edge is always behind the axle of the trailer, no exceptions. make sure you have a triangle and or running lights. Like Eddie said they never want to stop. (unless the beer is running low) Post pics when you complete it

Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty commited to using my 6.5 x 7 trailer frame. It's in great shape with good rubber and since it was originally a tent camper, swhould be rated for around 2000 lbs.

I think I'll build a continuous bench seat that runs down one side of the trailer, across the front and back down the other side. It will have a back to lean against. This way I'll have maximum seating and there will be no way to fall of except in the middle back.

I'll probably build the bech frames from steel square tubing and both on some wood for the seats and backs.

I'll probably have a high pole at each corner of the trailer so I can string lights on it. Can anyone tell me how to run lights from a 12 volt battery?

For halloween, I'll leave the FEL on the tractor and put a scarecrow in there that looks like a corpse... this should be fun!

I don't know how this would work out, cost wise, vs the wooden benches, but how about buying some used school bus seats. You could bolt them to the flooring of the wagon. If you ever want to use the wagon for hauling, you would just unbolt the seats from the floor.

The cushions on the seats would make for a more comfortable ride, as well.

To power lights get yourself a 300 ~ 400 watt inverter and hook it up to the tractor battery. Run Christmas lights to your hearts content. Could power a portable CD player for music.
