They are dug down to the untouched dirt. If you look closely, you will also noticed that they have drilled holes for rebar rods into the basement wall where the patio will meet the house. All this is in an effort to prevent the patio from settling over time.

I figured that must be the plan. I think it is a really good idea and necessary. The house is coming along nicely. I know time is short and such, but I wouldn't rush the interior work. I think the builder has given it a very good effort. Time for Plan B maybe.

Power and insulation inspections are tomorrow. They goofed up on the electrical inspection last week. They didn't do it for final as it required to actually get the power connected, so hopefully we'll get that ball rolling again tomorrow. Excavator guy will start tomorrow and plan to stay 6 days to get the following completed:

1. Septic holding tank, drain field and drain trench to house
2. Trench from power source to transformer and transformer to house. All of that will be in conduit since this is considered a sub-division
3. Trench from well to house
4. Trench from telephone pedestal to house (will share electrical trench near the house)
5. Dig hole and trench for propane tank (500 or 1000 gallon)
6. Trench for low voltage wire for gate opener
7. Trenches for downspout drains on low side of house, and basement floor drain

Assuming all goes well with the insulation inspection, the drywall crew will start on Wednesday. Builder estimate they will be there for 2 weeks. Cabinets are being ordered tomorrow, and should be here by the time the drywall guys are done. Of course the tile needs to go down first as the cabinets will sit on top of them. I know some crews don't tile under cabinets, so I made sure to ask this builder and they generally always does.

Move in date is not going to be day 90, but we are still targeting beginning of May, likely the week of May 6th. Mom can stay in her old house longer if need be, but she is itching to move. Already got most of her stuff boxed up and ready to go!

That is the question. :D

Peter,
Any chance you could get an eliptical in stone above the garage door in both of these views. I think the top picture with an eliptical above the door would look pretty good.

I like your new stone choice Peter, along with the darker paint color, I think they look great together.

Peter,
Any chance you can get and eliptical of stone in above the garage door in both pictures? I think the top one with and eliptical would look pretty sharp. Also do the stone perpendicular to how you have it for the eliptical.

Here's with something similar to your paint, Peter. (my stone is a bit different than your stuff, but it was in my library already :D)

what's the deal with the hardy plank installation on the front of the garage? there are 5 sticks of siding on the left side of the garage below the garage door opening and 5 1/3 or so on the right side. and then the top course of siding just below that fake beam is at an obvious angle to the rest of the house. that's the first thing i've seen from this builder that has made me wince.

What you are seeing is my handy work using MS Paint. :D There is no hardy plank installed below the fake beam yet.

Looking good Jay! Can't wait to see what the real thing looks like when I come home tomorrow.

BuilderML, I'm not sure what you mean by elliptical stone in above the garage?
