Building a berm for a Genset

Wouldn't I have to take those footings down to the frostline?

We are having a wood stove installed and I have a portable gas powered generator that can run a Rinnai heater that has its own tank.

Yes...we're in sand here and I auger down about 42" to 48 inches if I recall correctly. I have an auger on my skid steer though so it only takes me about 2 minutes to punch 4 holes. I don't bother with footings (concrete pads or sonotube) for something like that. Its not really a permanent thing. You said its only about 400 pounds. It doesn't take much for that.

are you sure it need to be 5 feet away? usually its 5 feet from any opening window or door, and only 18 inches from a wall.

one other issue ive noticed on propane generators..they dont work on these small tanks. ive never had luck on the generators running on less than 250 gallon tanks. I install lots of whole house systems.

I just had someone xall me and ask why the generator he installed will crank but not start up. Everything looked great about his install (he did it himself), but hes using a small 100 gal tank. Mind you these generators suck 3-4 gal/hr under load, so thats not much reserve. Hes having to add a 500 gal tank. and bitching to me about it/. like its MY fault. But really. why install a $7,00-9,000 system and cheap out on the fuel. source....what good is a days worth of fuel.
