Bugs in my gas?

I went to get gas today for my snowblower… and had lots of “slime” at the bottom of the container… I have a number of gas cans and evidently hadn’t used this one in awhile…/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Nasty little critters… Yuk! /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Yes, this is a comon problem with diesel tanks especially ones that store and are infrequently in use. Marine applications are notorious for this problem but all tanks should be inspected and, if a problem discovered, properly treated with an anti-fungicide/bacterial product.

Are these actually bugs ? I have never heard of that problem around here. How would one check, I would like to inspect my 300 gallon diesel storage tank but I have only a 2" plug there to do it. I changed my fuel filter on it yesterday and as always inspected the contents, found no water, slime or "bugs".

These are Micro-organisms that multiple but not actual 'bugs' although under a microscope you may see what apears to be bugs.
Don't know how to go about checking your 300 gal tank. I will talk to my friend with his diesel boat and find out what he does.

Thank you. The wife has been in the petrol business for many years and when I asked her, she had not heard of this problem either.
