Does anyone know a dealer in the raleigh nc area that is willing to put a buddy seat in a 5083e. I bought mine from quality equipment and they said they didn't want to do one because they had to cut the plastic. Well I want one for my son. Also for those who have had them put in...any complaints and what was the cost. Thanks y'all!!!!

John Deere INSTRUCTIONAL SEAT KIT LVB25717 $543.10

Can't tell you how well they are as I don't have one in my 5083E either. Also would the seat be in the way of the older models with the PTO Lever on the left side of the seat?

Mine is a 13' model so the only thing in the way that I can think of is the 4wd lever. I've heard so many yes and no's that I'm just confused on the matter.

Thanks....I think I'm going to investigate and see how hard it would be to install it myself...should be interesting haha. Funny how dealerships will turn down the money of installing one. Must be doing pretty good and not needing the money.

It seems no one really wants the work anymore, hard to get anything done that doesn't match a flat rate book. From what I remember the hard points are already there, you just need to cut the openings.

Sorry. I've been out of touch for a while. Yes I had a buddy seat installed prior to delivery of my 2012 5083e. It was actually THE deciding purchase factor. The plastic covering the fender does need to be cut but not extensively. A motivated DIYer armed with a Dremel could manage it IMO. The rest of the kit is bolt together.

Thanks for the reply. It might be what I have to do because I can't seem to find a dealer that can do it. I call and u hear them ask...haven't we installed one and you hear yes. then they say but the 4wd lever is in the way...we can't do it. Oh well lol to be sure if THEY can install it I can handle it. Thanks again!

Do you know if they had to drill the fender or are how's it mounted? I know the plastic has to be cut. Could you take some more pictures please. That'd be awesome if I could see more. Do you know what they charged by any chance. Thanks for your time!

It cost around 600 dollars to buy and get installed. It's just bolted on in a couple spots but they had to move the seat belt so it wouldn't be in the way of the 4wd lever

I'll bet if you look on the tire side of the fender you will find it has been drilled. There might even be reinforcement there too.

No, I checked that when I took the pictures. There weren't any reinforcements or spots were it mounted

According to my uncle who works for john deere you have to buy a buddy seat for a 5085m but it works on the 5083e
