john deere 790
I have a john deere 70 tractor with a bucket loader on the front. I replaced the hydraudic line that had a hole in it, it was line 2 (control curling down motion). Now the bucket has no tension when curled downward. I have put in two 5 gallion of hydraulic oil in the tracotr. Its been very cold here in NY this winter so oil has to even warm up to get thru to bucket. Could it just air in the line?

Yes, it could be air in the line, recycle the cyl about 10 times and the air should self purge.

Recheck those QD's for proper operation.

whats QD's? its been really cold, the bucket doesn't always curl down...like this morning it was 0 not including wind chill....when its above 20 its works better well at lease on curling down.

QD= Quick Disconnect.

It may take several cycles to get all the air out. Be patient.

What is the condition of your hyd fluid?

If it has any water in it, you will have trouble with the hyd.

After the fluid warms up, with the bucket flat on the ground, curl the bucket down and see if the tilt/curl down will raise the front wheels of the tractor?

Any water in the system would be frozen at 0 degrees. So if the system still worked, water isn't the problem.

How do I get the QD connection to be tighter? My connect isn't a tight fit

If they are good, they will be tight.

I would try another set, or replace the QD with unions or a straight fitting/coupler.

You can test the QD with pump flow by unscrewing the QD from the hose and connecting it together and start the tractor.

Then place the hose with the full QD installed and see if the full flow is passing through the QD into the bucket.
