Has anyone heard any rumors about new brush mulching equipment coming out in the future?

I've heard a rumor that Fecon is coming out with something new related to the Bull Hog mulching heads this summer or fall. Steel cutting teeth like the Gyrotrac maybe? A new rotor with spiral mounted tools similar to what Loftness uses maybe?

Also heard a rumor that Fecon will be making a custom model Bull Hog head for ASV to sell exclusively.

Another rumor I've heard is that ASV will have something big to announce at a dealer meeting later this year. I'm hoping it's going to be that the new track system will be available for the RC-100. Or maybe even a redesigned RC-100 with the new track system and the updated cab interior that the SR-80 has.

These are all just rumors that I've heard. Anyone have any others to add?

Hey fello mulchers, Its been awhile since posting. It's been a busy month.

New stuff coming out.

1. ASV already has a fecon mulcher on there forstry packages.
2. Rayco is coming out with a 100 h.p. machine, it will have loader arms and the rayco guy says it will have the high flow pump, usually not found on the non FM models. He said they are trying to find a rubber track option for it. Might demo one to see how it stacks up
3. The big news for ASV from my sources is a bigger unit, 125h.p range. And if CAT is using the new tracks I look for ASV to do the same.

Thats all I have.

I wasn't referring to the Fecon mulching head that is currently available with ASV's forestry packages. I'd heard that Fecon is going to be making a custom model with something like 46 teeth on it for ASV exclusively.

A new ASV 125 hp machine? Now that would be interesting, especially if they do put the new track system and interior in it.

Did you hear any time frames for any of this Robbie?

I think about the same time frame as you heard, the dealers meeting. It was strongly hinted at that a 125 prototype existed and they were gearing it directly for mulching. I refered to the supertrak tr120 as the competition and they knew that and were pitting it against it.

I wouldn't see the advantage for fecon to make an ASV exclusive head but were not corporate.

I'm very interested in running the Rayco 100. I've been doing a fair amount of dirt, grappling, etc. with my 100 and a dedicated, resonably priced tracked mulcher is looking better. Less for a hired operator to tear up.

Also have you seen the new Loftness carbide cutter, the C2? I demoed one, I was very impressed. They really nailed it on the new one. The C2 on the Rayco 100 would be great.

I just talked to an ASV dealer and he said a complete redesign of the RC80, going back to the18" track from the 20" track.

You meant the SR80? Did he give you a reason why ASV is going back to the 18" for the SR80? The only thing new I heard of is the M1 cab that has more room. Did you hear of any other changes? When will the new ASVs be available?

My dealer seems to be excited about the upcoming ASV dealer meeting. For him to get excited means that he must be expecting some big news. I'm hoping that the other machines get the SR70 & SR80 technology including the cab. I have already checked into the 18" track rumor on the SR80 and the dealer said that the 20" track is still standard, but you can order a machine with 18" tracks as an option. It would be real interesting if ASV introduced a 125hp machine. As far as I'm concerned, they already have the best "stock" mulching machine in the RC100 by far.

At this point there are two available SR-70 and SR-80. They have what is the original with the lap bars that fold down from the sides and the new XS (extra spacious) where there is more room for bigger operators and no fold down lap bars but gauges are places more up front and down.

18" tracks are now standard with a 20" track option. I love that 20" track. I have both models in stock. About rumors on larger machines, I don't know.

So what’s all the hubbub about 18” vs. 20”. What is it about the 2” that they are getting all excited about??

Fecon is definately making cutter knives and I will have a set on my 140 this time next week. Rumor has it that they will only last about 40 hours on the high horsepower machines. I amnearly convinced that if they speed you up as much as I think they will and they are very cheap (22 clams each) you can replace them every day if you have to if you are cutting 10-12 acres a week. I see this as the best of both worlds, when I am plowing rock like I have for the past three weeks or grinding the root balls I can run the carbides. When I am just knocking down and grinding the trees I can switch out to the knives. I have about 40-50 acres lined up so if I am slow to tell you how they work please be patient and I will be back eventually.
