The dealer keeps telling me that the L3400 can only pull a 5 foot brush hog. The Kubota webside tells me otherwise. Can the L3400 really pull a 6 foot like what the site says? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Everything I've read says the 3400 can handle a 6' hog with ease.

I've an L3410 GST, which puts 4-5% more hp into the pto than does an HST, and initially I had a 60" Woods BB. Such was to clear heavy stuff, and the unit had to be tough (weighed ~1100 lbs). When my property got semi-civilized, I traded in for a 72" Woods "light duty" unit (about 700 lbs - sturdier than most manufacturers) to keep the modest brush, weeds and field grass tame. The L3400 series will handle 72" most of the time, unless you're in real heavy stuff, like tall, thick weeds, and then all you do is keep one side of your brush cutter over a previously cleared area. Indeed, I was on my tractor, with the 72" cutter, for 3 hours this morning. About 95% of the time, I used full cutter widths, and the remainder I kept 6" - 1 foot of the cutter over previously mowed areas.
Note that keeping the blades sharp really helps.
