Rotary Cutter brush cutters are great

I finally used my massey heavy duty brush cutter, and boy is it amazing for a 40 year old cutter! it took out some 3 inch brush last night! wow. what a great 200 dollar investment.

WOW! You are pushing it through some mighty big stuff. If you find that 'just-over-the-limit' size that it won't cut, are the parts available to repair it? Or is this cutter on the endangered list? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I had an old 4' Sunbeam rotary cutter that was tough as nails, and only when I loaned it out, did it get such rough treatment that the seals blew out. After that, I put grease in the gear box, and it worked okay for many years until I sold it. Still working for the buyer, and he still apparently is able to get parts where it was made in Nebraska (Ollala?), I believe.

My Deere isn't as tough but now I don't try to take on small trees anymore. Also I beefed up the rear shroud on the Deere 513 so it is a lot tougher.

I just bought a used Bush Hog 285 mid duty unit It is rated up to 2" but it cut anything within reason that I ran over, I would say 4-5" across. The blades come thru the deck in a couple of spots.. Nothing a torch and a welder can't fix. This thing saved me many weeks of work. The $900 that I spent was well worth it.. Bill

she is def. not endangered. my massey dealer still has every part for her. she just works like a champ. i had no issue with anything that was in the field, which hadnt been cut for 2-3 years.

The brush cutter is among my favorite tools. A couple of years ago I cleared some brush manually, a lot of brush actually and man did I get beat up. Brush Hog revenge is sweet!!!
