Anyone put a brush cutter on FEL one like a Rut or Diamond with mulching teeth. If so what hydraulic pump did you use. I know it takes a reservoir and stuff but I’m having a hard time finding a pump that puts up 20GPM or so at 3000psi. There are plenty with flow just not the pressure.
please post pics of your set up.
thanks

They aren't doing 3000psi at 20gpm. That's ridiculous.

Those are some fake numbers. Who is making you believe that is the standard for driving a bush hog?

He didn't say Bush Hog. He said brush cutter. Probably not unlike the one Andrew uses HERE on one of his skid steers. He's chopping-up 2-3" trees with ease. You can get that kind of flow/pressure on a skid steer. A tractor with a FEL is going to need a separate pump. The PTO versions should work. But be prepared for a pricey investment.

I mistook that part. But my medium duty bush hog takes out 2" trees with ease as well.

Yes I agree, that will be a pricey investment if that is what you are doing.

Cheaper to rent a Tracked SS with one already on it? How much do you have to do? Tractors arent made for this. You should also have proper grade glass on your cab, or steel grate to protect the operator from flying debris. I had a mulcher do 30 acres of beetle kill on our place...200HP machine and threw it a hundred or so feet. He was basically in a steel tracked bulldozer machine with a total metal enclosure. Also trees can come back onto the cab area using these...

Bad idea.

A good medium or heavy-duty bush hog can do that

Yes I am wanting a brush cutter with mulching teeth on it. Made for skid steer. I want to run it on front end loader. I know all about needing reservoir and cooler I just can’t find the right pump. I have had no luck with my searches. Anyone else doing this can fill me in on the pump used.

Skid steer cutters require 20gpm at 3000psi.

Some of the ones premade do it or at least they are advertising they do so there is a pump out there I just can’t find where to get it. I called surplus supply and all there stuff is 2250psi. I’m not sure that will run it. I talked to the Mfg of cutter and he says I need more pressure closer to 3000 like a skid steer.

Should be roughly
Estimates
$300 for tank set up
Cooler $450
Filter $50
Hydraulic lines and fittings.
Maybe $400 not sure
The price of pump when I figure one out?
Build my own brackets the way I like.
I assume that is all I need. If I could ever find the right pump I’d be in business.
Or could order one of the prefabbed kits but they are priced at $4500-$6500

I just need the pump.

I didn't realized you were building your own kit. Don't forget the Pressure relief valve. You'll need a big one with all that flow.

On this side of the pond, the PTO pumps we use are simply PTO speed multiplier gearbox with a mount for a commonly available gear pump. This makes it a lot easier to find something exactly to suit your needs as it lets you choose the right pump.

Anyways, have you checked Surplus Center? They have a good assortment of pumps. The 3000 PSI might be hard to find and you may need to drop to 2500 PSI. The mower will still work with lower pressure, it will just not hold as much load as the 3000 PSI and maybe stall a bit more easily.

Yes Surplus Center is the first ones I called. No luck.

I actually have one of the Erkskine PTO power packs. 20 gpm and 3000 psi, needs at least 45 PTO hp. I can try and get info off the pump if you’re interested. I found it used for a good deal.

That would be great. Thanks

No offense, but this does not sound like a good idea from a safety standpoint. As mentioned above somewhere, you really need a cab or screen. I have a MTL for my skid steer, and it will cut some amazing stuff. However, I replaced the stock glass with a Shield's Windshield 1/2" poly, and I'm glad that I did. Stay safe.

I've heard plenty about CTLs running brush cutters to know that it's pretty dicey. Cutting big stuff means LARGE fragments getting rocketed around. CTLs tend to have a lot of armor, CUTs do not. AND, CTLs don't have radiators and fans right there next to all that action. All it takes in one incident to wipe out any "savings" that a person might have gained: and if there's a trip to see the doctor it could end up being a financial disaster.
