I have a Brown BDH-600 disc harrow, and one of the outer bearings on the rear of the disc row locked up.

I've found the parts list on Brown's website, and looks like the entire trunnion/bearing assembly is DH-115A, which includes the trunnion (bearing housing), inner bearing, and c-clip. The trunnion on mine is in good shape, I just need the replacement inner bearing (part #DH-115). I'm sure I can order through an authorized Brown dealer, but no idea how long that will take (and I am sure that route will be more expensive). I see tons of these on eBay with 1 1/8" square holes for the harrow shafts, but I am having a difficult time finding the correct OD of the bearing itself.

Here's the bearing:

The OD of the bearing housing is roughly 3.375-3.875", around 85-86mm.

These bearings are pressed in place, and took a but of force from a 30t press to get them removed from the bearing housing. I can't imagine Brown uses some proprietary bearing size, so surely this size is used on other harrows.

Any suggestions on an alternative?

Your profile says your in Georgia, take it to any Agri-Supply and they will have the bearing in stock, they have more plow and disc parts than anywhere.

There isn't an Agri-Supply location within 2 hrs of me....would be a lot easier to simply order.

Okay, call Brown Manufacturing in the morning and get them to send you one if not to expensive, if not have them give you the number off of the bearing and then cross reference it locally at Napa or any good local tractor/implement dealer, more than likely it is a common size.

HAVE you tried AgriSupply? I have a John Deere 1962 disc harrow with wooden bearings and I plan on replacing them with some I found on AgriSupply.

Count yourself lucky; my old disc has wooden boxes.

Never updated this thread, but I was able to find them online...ordered a pair, and sure enough, ended up having to replace a second one.

So does my Dearborn. I am gradually swapping them over to bearing sets from AgriSupply.

Over the years I replaced a lot of bearings and often been told a particular bearing and race was obsolete and no longer available. Each time and using diligence in a search of the internet and bearing catalogs was able to find what I wanted.

Replacing bearings on old haywagons worries most people but a cross reference search has always brought results for me. It's just easier to get new bearings and races rather that trying to salvage old junk.

EDIT--Here's some hay wagon bearings I replaced on an implement rebuild before covid prices. Cleaned until I could see the part numbers (on every bearing and race), was advised they were not available and then searched until I could cross reference. Double checked the measurements and bought new for I think $9 a set. I did a thread on the rebuild so it's in there. Really, save these bearings?
