Good job on the tie rod end repair. With that huge chamfer on 601 rod.. I thing you easilly got 100% penetration.

Now.. a question.. has that steering arm reciever tube been repaired.. the end where the tie rod threads in looks to have some welding on it.. not that it makes any big deal.. just curious..

Soundguy,
Thanks and good question. I know it has not been repaired since I've owned it from new. But it looked to me that a threaded sleeve was inserted and welded into the end of the tie rod. It's Chinese, so maybe that's the way they do it?

Impressive repair job, the Chinese tractors fascinate me and I don't think the big name tractors are that repairable. I rigged the boot on my Kubota steering that had been ripped for a couple of years and when I cleaned it up before putting on a new piece of rubber tube, I looked into the joint and it is lined with plastic, no way to get it apart, much less do any kind of welding on it.

Well, that is either a bummer of a good thing?;)
That is what's fun about owning a Chinese tractor. You get to do a lot to it without screwing it up. LOL ... Most everything is probably an improvement. Although I must say I'm impressed with the motor and beefiness of the housings and such. They may be "spartan like" but they are truly ruggedly built...at least Kama 554 is. This is the first real "break" I've had aside from bending the drag links. Both resulted from abuse, I'm sure. The terrain I use it on and the challenging obstacles I pit it against is no picnic for any tractor. This Kama has truly exceeded my expectations in that respect, and it was a real bargain.
