BROKEN CAMP

Rob,

Way to keep your chin up under the obvious disappointment.
It brings to mind the old addage, "Couldda been worse".

No one was hurt, and nothing that can't be repaired or replaced.

I'm sure you will have it back better than it ever was, real soon.

Sorry to hear (see) the mess you faced.

Take Care.

Glad to see you overcame the adversity...with flying colors!

Thinking of the brighter side, it could have been much worse. Bears could of ransacked the place, then a fire could of broke out....then the camp could have been washed away by a flood.

All & all, I'd say you got off pretty easy! ;)

Thanks for taking us all along for the ride.

Don

Rob,

Sorry to see the damage, but it's also nice to read about your positive attitude towards it. You are an inspiration to all of us. Thank you.

Hi guys,
Thank you all for the encouraging words.
And you are right that it could have been worse for sure. Before we left camp we got it back together almost a 100% and actually better than it was before. I know everybody has events like these that make your day. I wanted to share mine to let you know I wasn't slacking off on the other projects.:D

Here's more photos showing the damage. Two of the metal frame canopies under the tarps were crushed and I threw one away. I'm gonna have to hustle to get it all repaired before the rain comes this evening. I'll have to reinforce the side framing too, to reduce the chance of this happening again. Just a LOT of work I wasn't planning on. I'm so lucky to have Loretta and Wes to help. If it wasn't for them, I'd never get anything done up there or maybe just give up.

With the limited time I have up there, all my tractor related projects are going to be set way back. It's a 4 hour drive up and 4 hours home and that doesn't leave much for the weekend. Here's what I've got on the plate to do.
-Take photos of the Log Home project every visit up and inspect their work.
-Finish the QA Gauge Wheels
-Install the mounts onto the rotary cutter and boxblade then paint them.
-Hook up the hydraulics for both.
-Repair the broken rear axle and brakes on my ATV.
-Make bracket mounts for my new hydraulic winch and mount to tractor.
-Hook up the hydraulics, pressure reducers, gauges and QA system for it.
-Test all these new mods out and document so I can share with you guys.

That's a lot to do for in a short time every other weekend.
Loretta and I were pretty distraught over it.

Rob: You and that wonderful lady are building and living your dreams; there is always a few detours along the way! I have seen these situations where the house survives, but the marriage doesn't! With the support Loretta has provided for you; sometime in the distant future, you and Loretta will be able to laugh about the hardships you have endured, while making others laugh too? The two of you are the perfect team, and it will only make your marriage stronger!

It's that "No gain without pain" factor; I've been there too!

I see a lot of recent progress, and the close in is on the horizon with weather conditions permitting. Thanx for posting all the beautiful pictures!

Lee,
Thank you too.
You and all the guys who take the time to comment are really supportive to me.

Mornin Rob,
Sorry to hear about the bad news at the camp ! I know how tired Kathleen and I are sometimes late on a friday nite getting up to our cabin in Vt after a 3 hr and 20 min drive ! You just dont need any bad news at that point ! ;) The thought of having something damaged at that point just doesnt sit well as I sit here this mornin typing out this message.

On a more positive note, your dream home will be built before you know it and you will be enjoying it for many years to come ! BTW toolmakers can fix almost anything ! ;)

Check your e-mail I sent you some Christmas decorations to cheer you up ! :)

Rob, Sorry to see the damage to your camp. It's very encouraging to see your family pulls together and deal with the situation. The before and after pictures proved you can handle whatever mother nature throws at you.

Rob,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. But I can tell by reading your different threads and post that you are the type of person that won't let this get you down.

When something like this happens to me I feel sorry and depressed for about 5 minutes then its time to suck it up and move forward!!

Wish I was there to help you clean it up.

David
