broken 3 point

Has any one ever broke a draft link or lift bar? I broke mine yesterday and it broke at the weakest point right where a hole was drilled through it. the dealership wants 286$ for a new one. Im looking at used ones now.

Same thing happened to me on my MF135 I just welded it back with some extra bar stock on top and bottom. Worked fine but did not look the best

How long has the weld lasted? Do you take it easy on it?

15+ years. Did not take easy on it. Never had a problem again. The top bar stock was about 3/8" to 1/2" in dia. The same thickness as the link. The bottom was at least 1" in dia (may have been bigger). Did v out the broken out area on both pcs. Had to re-drill the hole to remove the weld.
