Rotary Cutter Broke shaft going from gear box to blades..........

While bush hogging today I hit a manhole cover that was sticking up and broke the shaft that goes from gearbox to plate that blades attach to. Can the shaft be replaced or do I need a new gearbox?

I would suspect you would need to replace at least the shaft. What brand? Might be easier and cheaper to replace as a unit. Also might be cheaper for a new brush hog.

I dont remember the brand. The decal is about worn off and only thing that shows is the letter M for first letter. It is 6 years old and a heavy duty mower. It is 5 foot. I didn't know the shaft could be replaced. I was going to start taking it apart tomorrow but didn't want to do a lot of unnecessary work if I didn't have to. I am not going to spend a lot of money on it because actually I want a 6 or 7 foot mower. Thanks

No point in taking it apart until you figure out what brand it is, whether or not a new shaft is available, and at what cost.
