Broke my friggin arm (got what I deserved)

I know, let's have a government agency with its sole purpose being for ladder accident prevention. Then O can appoint a czar to oversee it.

I was taking down an old corn crib on the farm when I was in my early teens. I rested the ladder against one of the top stringers and went up with my sledge hammer to tear stuff up. The first board I removed was the one my ladder was resting on. Dad just laughed and said I would learn one day.

Sorry about your injury. Go for physical therapy if the healing is not complete. It can work wonders.

As for therapy to get your range of motion back, I agree completely. I had rotator cuff issues and therapy got me 100% range of motion back. I was very happy.

Way off topic for PT land, but was putting up plywood in my pole barn to make some storage last saturday. Got the 1st sheet jammed on the ladder at the top, so I set the ladder against the 2x4 joist and went up again with a second sheet, knowing full well it was a stupid manuever. Got the sheet up, looked in time to see the 1st leg slip off the beam. Panicked, tried to scramble down and only made it worse.

Now it gets fun. Figure I just dislocated it so I keep working. 5PM arm is really sore. got to the ER. Eyup, Fracture of my elbow (Radial fracture of the radius at the elbow). Get a cast and a sling. On monday, Surgeon says hey, cast is a bad idea and so is a sling so just don't pull or push on it for the next 20 days and try and use it lightly or it will atrophy and you will not get full use.

Man, does that hurt. Finally starting to calm down a bit but now my arm is all bruised up.

I bought the largest "little giant ladder" I could find and it was a great investment. Heavier than ****, but I always feel like I have something underneath me. Bottom line... It sucks to try and do stuff like that by yourself. Been there many times.

Listen to your Doc. Had 2 friends with the same injury, one kept in a sling(standard treatment 15 years ago), cannot straighten it to this day, no matter how much therapy. Another friend did it 2 years ago, no sling, no wrap, kept it moving even though certain motions hurt like **** - good as new, full motion with no therapy. Good Luck.

I think everybody has an experience where they "saw it coming" and "did it anyway" to one degree or another.
