I noticed the lights weren't working so I checked the fuze. When I did only one prong came out. I can see the other still setting in there.

Pretty sure I found out why the lights aren't working but how do I get the prong out of there?

Just tried. Pliers are WAY to big to get in there. Also just tried to push it out the back. Apparently the back is not open so now it is stuck all the way in.

Try an ice pick or small screwdriver

Maybe bend a small hook in a paperclip or other stiff wire and try to hook the end of the blade by going in where the middle of the fuse would be? Might be able to work it out far enough to get it with the pliers.

You might be able to put a drop of solder on the tip of a soldering gun. Touch the tip on the prong and let it cool without moving it. Then pull it out.

Dental pick.. I would go get my "universal release tool" sometimes called a spudger out of my telephony toolkit. but I realize you don't have one of those, but a dental pick, you can buy at lots of places, or call the dental hygienist and ask if they have any old ones you could have. You can try the paper clip, but it is not hardened and may bend. You could try to heat the bent paper clip in a flame and quench it in water quickly to try and harden it. Might work. You just need a little nub bent on the end to go down beside the leg of the clip, rotate it, and hook the bottom of it a bit.

Oh, it goes without saying you are doing this with the battery disconnected, right?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have taken a deep breath and counted to ten slowly.....and opened a beer.

The dental pick is a good idea. Too bad I don't have one...yet. A paper clip is too big. Even the micro sized flat head screw driver was useless. I could fit it in there but then I couldn't get it to grab anything.

Good news is that even if it I left it in there (which I won't) I can still fit a good fuze in the box.

I need to regroup, get a dental pick like device, wait for daylight and finally get those reading glasses that I've been too proud to buy.

Is there room to try a pair of tweezers, like out of a first-aid kit. Don't know how much room we are talking about. If you can even get a good grip on the remaining piece. Might be wedged in too tight.

Also thought of a small pair (6")of needle nosed vise-grips, if you can find a pair?
