Briggs 5hp questions

I have an 80's model 5 hp briggs on my tiller. I just put a different tank on it and got it running for the first time and gas blows out of the tank cap vent when the engine is revved up. What could be causing this?

Thanks. I was thinking it might be something like that but not sure so had to ask.
