Briggs 126432 0036 E1 Idler Gear Pin Needed!

Hi All,

I have the briggs engine listed and removed the sump to replace the gasket when I discovered that the pin that holds the idler gear had snapped in two. I went to several parts websites and can't find this pin in any of the descriptions. Each end has a groove to insert an E ring retainer. One goes inside the engine to hold the gear and the other on the outside of the sump to hold the pin. Does anyone know of a part number or possibly a used pin I could buy? This engine is an OHV 5.5 HP on my chipper. Thanks very much!

From the diagrams and a little research it appears that pin/shaft is supposed to be part of the side cover and not removable. Or at least the superceded cover part number shows the shaft as part of the cover.

Hi Randy,

Thank you for your reply. This seems to be the same thing I found. As far as it being removable, the pin I have split in two and I was able to remove the half that was left in the cover. My only thought now is to take it to a friend of mine who owns a machine shop and ask them to make a new pin. I tried to find a used cover, but no luck. Thanks again for your time and take care.
