Landplane road.jpgLandplane.jpg Worth every penny, I recommend one for anyone who has a gravel road to maintain.

Looks very nice. I need to get one this year for sure. My road has some large gravel (2"+) I'm wondering how well a landplane would work on that? Once I get that flat/level I'd get some road base/crusher fines to top it.

The larger stone will cause it to bounce, I noticed that when I would pull one up. But once you get your top stone on you should be good to go.

Good choice uptaker73. The land plane is great. It's a pleasure to use rather than the blade, landscape box or landscape rake as I've done for the last 30 years. No more gravel spread to the sides to be either raked out or "mowed out" as I do. This will be my third year using it and wish I had bought one 10 years ago. I find I add gravel less frequently too.

Question for land plane users: Can you still hold a good crown on the road, or does it completely smash it out? I like to use my rear blade to pull material to the center of my road, then flip the blade around backwards for a final pass down the middle to feather it all out. Not sure how you would do that with a land plane. Thanks

I am able to angle the land plane down on the right side, which helps with maintaining or making the crown. The blades are angled in so it helps roll the material to the middle.

Quite a few people state you can not crown with a land plane,,
but,, I have no issue making or keeping a crown,,,
I do weight one side heavily when crowning,,

My land plane is DIY,, the sides are 1/2" X 12".. so it is heavier than most,,
