Hi Guys -

We are finally starting make headway on the homesite. The floor plans were completed today and the builder is hammering out the details soon. I had a chance last week to boxblade what the bulldozer did last month. There were tall peaks and low ruts throughout this clearing that the rain hardened. My little kubota performed very well and flattened this out in about 4 hours. Not too bad for my first time out w/a boxblade. Now i am officially hooked. :)

We also, a little while ago, were able to blaze the trail down to the creek. It turned out to be about 1000 winding feet - you can REALLY notice the elevation drop going back up the darn thing.

We should be able to pour footings and slabs in the next month or so. I'll keep the pics updated as i need to document this anyway!!

i didn't have the camera on the last tractor day - i will take some pictures tomorrow to post - i'll be moving a bunch of stuff around w/ the kubota. the rain did a decent job of flattening what i did out there.

i'll be sure to post some pics from tomorrow.

Looks good. Yes, the rain will do nice "finishing" work for you. :D

Is the creek normally in the trees? Also are there fish in the creek. That is a very nice lot; are you going to plant trees after you are done to make it a little less open? Just curious.

If there is a job more rewarding than making trails through the woods, I haven't found it. It can be hard work, but the payoff will keep paying as long as you live there, and longer for future generations. On the 8th day, God made tractors!:D

looks pretty good so far, I would get a root rake very soon and that will help you out a lot, they are usefull in large land clearing/trail blazing when lots of sticks roots are in the way. then sell it after a year or so. look for used and or rentals if you only intend on using when first getting the property up to snuff. I waited a long time and did like you using box blade only for first 2~3 years and after using the rake it is a world of differences to get the junk out of way how much better the box blade works.

Also it is nice to have full profile filled out so people can see WHERE you are at and maybe work out deals with other members on use of other items.

Hi Guys - thanks for the comments - i am in central SC on just under 6 acres (hoping to buy another 4 adjoining soon) - yes, clearing the trail was a chore but quite fun - and the deer are doing a decent job of keeping it open.

As for the creek, it WAS only about 4-5 feet wide, but the beavers have it dammed up to 50-60 foot wide (so i don't complain) - there are plenty of tiny fish, and some smaller bream - but almost everytime i walk down there i spook some wood ducks. i love it.

here's my better half working the tractor - i got stuck running the chainsaw.
she's a good bit prettier than me anyway for pictures;)

we pulled out some trees and some cemented in fenceposts w/ the kubota - that was fun.

i'll keep you all posted. thanks for the input.

as for the trees - i plan on planting some decent sized trees around the house, as well as some shrubbery - AND sod. so time will tell on that.
