Guys, I was planning to buy a new Deere this summer but it looks like it will be in the Fall instead. Question for the board experts, if I don't have the 8 hours required for the break-in service on the new tractor before putting it into winter storage, would I still perform that service with less hours, or wait until the 8 hours is reached in Spring time?

how are you going to have a tractor and not get 8 hours on it? I do that getting the mail in two weeks. I would do the major break in early in case I wanted to really use it in the winter.

I bought my 2011 JD X740(diesel) late in sept. and only put 11 hours on the machine.I ended up getting my 50 hour service in late june 2012.Never hurt anything.

Service recommendations are exactly that. Stay close as reasonable, and you will be fine. Severe duty is the critical service side. You are on light duty side. Enjoy your new John Deere!
