Just to answer Raised on a Deere's question, here are a couple of pictures of the pushrod taken from underneath. As suspected, it's quite a tight fit although not as tight as the camera's foreshortened focus makes out. The pushrod is all one piece welded together - a much better job than I could have done and actually quite easy to install and take off. The only trouble is that it needs a hole made in the raised footplate underneath the steering column. You can see the daylight coming in - that's the white patch at the top of the rod.
