That's great news on finding a helpful neighbor. If you are going to have animals and need hay, you can do a 1/3's Agreement with your neighbor. He grows and cuts&bales it for 2/3 of the hay and you keep 1/3 of what he bales for your animals as payment for him using your Hayfield. Though if you don't have animals a straight lease is cleaner.

Good luck, the enjoyment of physical activity and being outside will make it difficult to ever work a desk or factory job again.

The animals were the first to go, I didn't have no clue how to take care of them so I found better owners, I did keep the dog. Someday, I hope to have some.

I just got a used 3510 from a fellow who got himself a 3520 to handle his round bales, and he had a full set of manuals to go with it. I haven't used it for much yet but it sure seems like it is one beefy little beast. The manual says "Transmission fluid (also for use for steering wheel) Front Axel Fluid" and indicates "TF500" as the type and lists Texaco TDH Oil 1893 and Chevron Tractor Hydraulic Fluid in the remarks column. As far as I can tell these basically cross reference to any good tractor hydraulic fluid.

Thanks that's what I needed to know.

TSC Premium Trans/hydraulic fluid meets JD 20c spec and the Kabota HDN or whatever that 3 letter acronym is for their oil. If those 2 specs don't define a trans/hyd/diff/wet brake/hydrostatic steering fluid I don't know what would.

On the front axle with a FEL, back in 2007 the word was use what you use in the tranny. I did and was sorry for abusing my front end one day when I was in a hurry and the $640 parts bill I got for the replacement parts to fix it. With the parts came the recommendation for heavier oil to prevent these problems: Today it's use gear lube and 85w-140 is the grade recommended for larger tractors. My 2016 2400 comes standard with 80w-90.

Question? Does the FEL, transmission & pto get fliud out of the same tank or separate tanks? Does heavier lube go just to FEL?

Hydraulics and transmission use the same fluid. It also cools the brakes, which is why they are called "wet" brakes. The brakes are one reason why you need specific tractor fluid instead of regular hydraulic fluid. Tractor fluid has additives to make the brakes work right.

The PTO shaft is driven mechanically, not hydraulically. On some tractors the PTO clutch is electric over hydraulic, which means an electric switch that signals a hydraulically operated PTO clutch separate from the engine clutch. Some tractors have single stage or two stage clutches. On a single stage the PTO is driven from the transmission and the clutch disconnects both the drive and the PTO. On dual stage clutches the transmission is driven from one stage and the PTO from the other stage. Push the clutch down halfway to disengage the drive, all the way to disengage the PTO. This lets you shift while moving without disrupting the PTO.

Branson 20 and 25 series have electric over hydraulic and dedicated PTO clutches, even the manual trans models.

Eric, you forgot the models like mine the 3510i - The "i" stands for independent PTO, which uses a hydraulic clutches to engage & disengage the PTO shaft regardless of the clutch pedal.
