branson 2810 hydraulics getting hot

Need help,the hydraulics seem to be getting hot and shutting down, lose of power, can't steer, won't go any more have to let it cool off and then it goes just fine for about 20 to30,min's then it starts shutting down again. When I bought it and got it home I was running it around the yard and it blow one the steering hoses. Fixed that, then another, and now it get hot and weak.

Are you talking about a hydrostatic transmission,, or implement hyd?

If you think it is the implement hydraulics, I believe I would be checking the relief valves, and the QD for correct flow, also correct fluid.

Did you just get this machine? It sounds like you may have a valve the wrong way. Like when the 3 point is all the way to the top but the lever is still trying to lift higher so the relief bypasses. Or did the problem start after the first hose. Maybe a restriction in the new hose (it happens).

Its a hydraulic trans,every things seems to work fine until u put it under load and it gets hot, it effects steering, trans, loader, and so on, the hoses are so hot u can't touch them, by the way I'm knew to the whole tractor thing, though I am mechanically inclined, I just don't know much about tractors. I replaced the fluids to the full level with the type recommended

I'm guessing that there is one pump that runs all the hydraulics, even though it has a seperate tank for the steering, could there be a problem with the valve that's on the steering colum. Or air in the line,

Lot of tractors have a seperate steering pump.

A hydro tranny has one really big pump to drive the tractor.

Most I know of have a sperate pump for the hysraulics, like a loader and 3pt.

It's possibe they use diverter and priority valves to run it all from one pump, but I'd doubt it?

Often one can hear the whine and grumble of a hyd pump that is under stress and overlading a bypass valve, which quickly heats up the oil. With you new to tractor, you probably can't judge that?

What is on your tractor exactly, you say it is a hydro tranny. And power steering.

Do you have a loader? Or is it set up with hydraulic lever/connetors for a loader?

Do you have a backhoe? Or was it ever set up with a backhoe - backhoes sometimes have an odd set of hydraulic lines that need to be treated differently than 'normal' hydraulics.

Do you have a rear remore(s) for hooking up hydraulic stuff?

It has a front end loader, and brush hog, no rear hook ups, I looked though the maneul and I only see one pump, when it messes up every thing stopp's working at the same time, but I loose my steering first, the hydraulics don't seem to be in a binded, like when u Max out the rear lift

If all the hyd is taken from one tank, then any of the sources like transmission, loader, 3pt can cause the heating problem. If the 3pt lever is left in the up position, some of the 3pt will stay in relief, and heat things up.

In a normal open center hyd system, with alll valve in neutral, there shold be little or no pressure. If you are using the loader or 3pt, you will see pressure on the gage.

So, install a 3000 psi hyd gage in the IN port of the FEL valve. Using the gage, you can monitor and trouble shoot the hyd system for that particular pump.

There is probably a place on the transmission to check the tranny hyd.

OK thanks for the advice, if it matters, it seems to get hot faster when I'm brush hogging.

Is your bush hog matched up to your tractor HP .

It used to be about 1 ft width for every 5 HP, don't know if that still applies.
