Brands of implements - Let\'s rate them!!

I am trying to make a selection based on photo's and "I've got's" opinions. The trouble with the “I got’s” is that some people found package deals and some got used and some didn’t get many choices based on timeframe or location.

What I really don't have a good feel for is how the different brands stack up. I realize that I don't necessarily need the best for what I am going to do. But it would be good to now how they stack up. This way when one looks at the pictures and the dealer tells them one is $80 more than another, I could think back to this post and say “well, it was rated well above the other in the stack of votes”. Hopefully this would be useful to many forum members.

So, assuming this is possible, I was thinking everyone could just list (top down) how they think the manufacturers stack up. Sort of like this:

Cadillac
Chevy
Pontiac
Hyundai

Rogue, the idea sounds good at first, but my personal opinion is that it won't yield any useful information; just personal opinions only. I think rating the implement would get the same result as rating tractor brands or pickup brands. Let's see:

Kubota
John Deere
New Holland
Kioti
Mahindra

How many would put them in the same order (I'm not even convinced that I believe that's the right order). /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The next problem is that you need to consider not only brand names of implements, but whether you're talking about their light, medium, or heavy duty models, and then you probably also need to consider the size of the tractor you're going to use those implements on.

Oh well, maybe someone else has a better idea of how to come up with a useful list. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Alhough wouldn't tractor manufacturers be more difficult to discern than implements. I dunno. If not, then I guess I surrender. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Your thread title got me thinking.

I first said to myself KK got to be the worst!

Then I said [again to myself] KK got to be the best when you consider the price/performance ratio!

Another thing I didn't think to mention before would be the experience of the person providing the rating. For example: The only tiller I've used was a Bush Hog brand; great tiller for me; really liked it, never a complaint or problem but no experience with other brands so couldn't rank them, but if I were buying a new one today, I'd probably try another brand that cost less.

I've used it that way since I started using the net (being in Telecom, that means way early). I just thought I'd put it on here like that too. Just being goofy.

Anyways, I wasn't looking for opinions so much as trying to see if there was a ranking order. You know.. umm Rolex is the best.. cheapo chinese LCD watches are the worst. Something like that.

In order to give a VALID opinion on which watch, tractor, or widget was best, all of the participants in the poll would have to have experience with each item. I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't afford to take part in this survey. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I wasn't really looking for a valid opinion... just some incling of opinion. If I had dozens of people saying "Bevco is the leader brand", then That would give me an idea where to look. I guess I understand now that there is no read leader overall. Like tractors, i assume that attachments are pretty closely rated. So I give up... Seems to me that you can rate implements.

BUT it seems that some ground rules need to be in place. First, you need to set some standards like classes of implements, say ECONOMY CLASS versus PREMIUM CLASS versus MID-RANGE CLASS. We'd have to first agree what fits in each class, then rate them only buy people who've used them.

Someone could say that a King Kutter mower deck is the best, and for the low price it is tough to beat, but for someone who mows a lot of ground it might not hold up so a heavier brand might be needed. It might not be fair to rate a light duty deck versus a heavy duty deck. So maybe set some ground rules, and maybe set up some classes, and maybe try again?

I can only give an opinion on what I have experience with. Every time I use my Rhino SE5 brush hog I marvel at its durability and the great job it does in brush and how pretty it cuts grass at the same time. I really work it hard. If I bought another one, I would not give it any thought, I would get another Rhino. I also have Rhino RFM, and it is a great piece of equpment also.

I consider Rhino to be a premium quality brand of implement.

I have rented a Befco tiller before, and it did a great job. Don't have any experience with long term durability however.
