Taz,

Not sure if it's the same on the L4610, but one of my slight complaints about the tractor is when I engage the Speed Set Lever, it actually applies some pressure to my pedal which throws off the speed. When I go to use it I have to go faster than I actually want to cruise at. Did you notice this, or am I just an idiot?

Mine is the same way. Compensating for it will soon become second nature.

Taz you asked what are you missing? Well at times I use the cruise and then use my right foot on the brake. But most of the time when needed I two step, meaning I use my left foot on the brake and keep my right on the pedal.

Taz wrote---I can't see you spinning the wheels while you set the cruise lever. Never watched me run a tractor have ya? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Over the years I've spent alot of time in the mud and in low traction settings so things become second nature. It's either get her moving or bury it. Wouldn't be the first time I buried a tractor and wont be the last/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Actually come to think of it I never have buried the hst far enough I had to leave it overnight. But that day will come no doubt and hopefully it will be a long time from this day.

But without a doubt the brake setup for Kubota hst tractors are a poor design. One other thing that I don't like about the Kubota is the cruise on mine can't be set at a creeping speed.

Hope this sheds some light on it

Frank,
No, you're not an idiot. It bugs me a bit as well.
From what I saw under the tractor the Speed Set Lever has a similar mechanism to the brake lock. I am not sure what they're called but there is a piece of linkage with maybe 10 grooves cut into it. When you go to engage it, you need to hit one of the grooves or it won't set. So you can either speed up OR slow down and it will go in.
I just traded up from a B2910 and that is the most noticable feature difference for me. The B2910 had a hand operated HST throttle that acted as the cruise control. To go, you didn't even need to use the pedal. Just move the knob forward and the tractor would go. Take your hand off of it at any point and it would stay right there until you hit the brake or pulled it back with your hand.
