brake safety switch

Hello guys im a new user here and not sure if im in the right place but will post a question.i have a yanmar sa424 thats about 4 years old with about 100 hours on it always parked inside .cant figure out why it only starts occasionally .seemed for a while if i stomped on the brake and jumped up and down on the seat it would take off but now nothing.when it was running it would stall whenever i got out of the seat even with the parking brake on .i cant tell how the wiring on the brake switch attaches so i can test it .the switch moves freely and is not corroded eve looked ay diagrams bit just get lost with them .thanks for any replies.

Sounds like the seat switch might be the place to start. One other thing: i notice if the reverse pedal was slightly pressed it wont start, i have tapped the forward pedal quick and the tractor would then start. There is a reverse safety switch that is touchy.

thanks for the reply i did remove the seat switch and it tested ok as well as play around with the positions of the hydro pedals neither helped .its almost as if the tractor thinks that the brake pedal is not locked.

Tony looks like that pedal thing might be it ! The first time I played with it I was on the tractor using my foot and might have been too aggressive . After I read your post I went out and moved it lightly by hand while the parking brake was set and it fired right up . Now I just have to see if there is an adjustment or maybe replace the switch entirely . Thanks again

It might be better if you post a video of yourself jumping up and down on the seat while stomping the brake.
...I mean, maybe not better to help us diagnose your problem.....but just funnier! :laughing:

That’s funny **** coby ! I guess I must have looked pretty comical in deed .dam annoyed though trying to bring up the firewood and it stalled every time I got off it. I think I’m on the right track. I see your from Washington county , used to do the demo derby over at the fair years ago .

Im ready to change this switch at the reverse pedal location but cannot find a reliable source to buy the part. the people from yanmar sent me a complete parts diagram of my tractor and ill be dammed if i find the switch im looking for .i went to my local tractor dealer at the end of december and ordered the part and they still have no word where it is .im ready to cancel my order and try to find it elsewhere .anyone know of a reliable source where i can gets parts for this tractor in a reasonable time frame? thanks
