brake play

I have a 1952 8n ford its a late one and whenever I put the brakes on when im backing up they go to the floorboard but work great in a forward direction. what could be wrong?

Have you taken the wheel and drum off? Something maybe let go inside.

remember.. these are partially self energizing drum brakes. do you have them adjusted to work good aand have minimum play for forward brak9ing. ie. adjust til they drag, then just back off a click to prevent dragging.

Thank you i will try that and hope that works. And also does anybody know if a set of mid mount sickle bar mower mounts are worth anything or scrap. Again thanks.

the brackets? sell em.. don't scrap em. somebody will want them..

I got them adjuster good and that fixed the problem. Now i just have about 1/4 a inch of travel and it will skid the tires thanks for all the advice.
