Just thought I would brag a little. I was caught flat-footed by the recent 10 below temperatures and ended up with a non-running diesel Ford Excursion at my neighbors house, blocking his long driveway. After considering my options (fix in place in cold temperatures or tow home to warm garage), I came up with the brilliant idea of towing the Excursion with my BX1500D. It is up a slight incline and maybe 150-200 yards, on packed snow with some ice. With my 14 year old son on the tractor we had the Excursion home and backed into the garage in about 10 minutes! The BX1500's 4WD with locking rear differential is a traction monster in the snow.

The Chevy/GMC lovers in TBN are gonna have a field day making comments about your picture. It's amazing how much work these compact tractors can perform in slippery conditions.

Good pic...just goes to prove you can tow quite a bit with a small CUT. What kind of tires are you running, Turfs or Ags?

And what was wrong with the Ford? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Turf tires.

The problem with the Ford was that I hadn't drained the water from the fuel filter in 10k miles. The water had frozen and blocked the fuel. It was an easy fix when it had warmed up in the garage. It wasn't a FORD problem, it was operator error!

Does you Excursion have the 7.3L Powerstroke in it? I just ask since I had a F350 (97) Powerstroke and the manual stated do not add Fuel additives to the fuel. I believe this because it will cause problems down the road because of the fuel filter/water separator.

When I had mine I drained the filter about every 10K and had zero water. If I were you, try buying fuel at a differant stop. Also check online since the fuel filters are really cheap online ($11.50) vs $45 at Ford for Racor filters.

Aren't your BX1500 and Excursion kinda incompatible? It's a COW, condo on wheels, whereas, the BX1500 is a nice size tractor.

Another SUV was shown on the news last night, upside down in a ditch. See them all the time after a snow fall around here.

Heard about the latest from U-haul? They won't rent you a truck if you own a Ford Explorer.

Why would U-Haul care what type of vehicle you owned when you are renting a truck?
