However it happens please resist the temptation to have kids get anywhere near a mower when the blades are spinning. Doesn't matter if pulled in a cart or held securely in your lap, none of it works well enough to be a good idea. Just my two cents but this poor kid now has a problem every day for the rest of his life. An accident, yes, but not good choices along the way. As adults we have an obligation to offer wisdom to and protect the young.

I don't get it ? How can the mower run over the poor kid if he was being pulled in a trailer behind the mower..? That may be why this...> “We have not been able to have a conversation with the young man’s parents,” he said. “There is still some work to be done on the case.”

It says the cart flipped so I would figure a jack-knife situation, maybe on a sharp turn. Kid probably bounced sideways into the mower.

Whatever the cause of the accident, I wish the Child, the very best in Life. Hopefully, the parents will get him the best Prothesis that they can. They aren't cheap.

I feel sorry for the kid. I know a guy that makes hay with his kid riding on the fender of the tractor.

Another reason I'm glad I sprung for the instructor seat in my new tractor's cab. I figure once I have a child, or for that matter any friends' children who enjoy tractors, they can ride safely and comfortably right by my side and I'll know exactly where they are and that they're safe.
