Box steel specs for 2 axle trailer?

I've come into a lot of 3 X 3 X 3/16 box steel, enough to
build my 2 axle trailer. I need 4000lbs max load specs. Mostly to carry my tractor (3700) if it needs repairs, possibly my wife's car if it breaks down (2600 +-), and a loader full of top soil,sand or gravel on occasion.

Trailer will be 11Ft X 8, with 2.5 ft overhang after front and rear spring hangers. Tongue same material but reinforced at joints with 1/4in plate.

Can this steel take the punishment or do I need to up to 1/4in thick?

Oddly, I can't get specs on steel on the net ie: max spans, dead weight limits,etc.

no problem, just add 5 cross members equally spaced and deck it with 2x8's or 2x10's you shouldn't have any problems carrying this load. check out some web sites on trailers and see what size metal they use building thiers.

Go to championtrailers.com. they have the best set of free single and dual axle trailer plans on the net. If you use 1750 pound leaf springs on your axles your tandem trailer will have a GVW of 7000 less the weight of the trailer
