I've come into a lot of 3 X 3 X 3/16 box steel, enough to
build my 2 axle trailer. I need 4000lbs max load specs. Mostly to carry my tractor (3700) if it needs repairs, possibly my wife's car if it breaks down (2600 +-), and a loader full of top soil, sand or gravel on occasion.
Trailer will be 11Ft X 8, with 2.5 ft overhang after front and rear spring hangers. Tongue same material but reinforced at joints with 1/4in plate.
Can this steel take the punishment or do I need to up to 1/4in thick?
Oddly, I can't get specs on steel on the net ie: max spans, dead weight limits, etc.
Thanks.
