Box Elder bugs

Last fall we started seeing these black bugs with red striped backs flying around our house:confused2:. Someone told me they were Stink bugs. I think they came from a pot of herbs that my wife brought in from outside for the winter. I kill between 5 to 10 a day. Today my son inlaw was over and says they are Box Elders. What I want to know is how to get rid of them? I have moved all our potted plants outside, will that solve the problem?

Mix cheap dish washing liquid ... 1/4 cup .....in a two gallon sprayer with water. This time of year they will congregate in a sunny spot for the heat.

Spray the rascals and they will die. Cheapest solution I know of.

I've got so many boxelder bugs, I can't find work for all of them. They used to live in the walls of the barn. Since last spring, though, I've had a Hero of Labor taking down the old siding, staining, caulking, and replacing everything. Now they just collect in conclaves on any sunny surface they can find. They don't do any harm. Just don't leave a window open.

Ihad an infestation of Box Elder bugs is a tree behind the house a few years ago. Tried everything to kill the bugs off and nothing worked until I took that tree down. Only thing I found to really kill them was physically squashing them to death. Never found a posion that I could say really worked. Some would knock 'em back but nothing had enough residual power to keep 'em gone.

I hope that you removed the source and that will rid you of the bugs because you really don't wnat them to get started at your place.
