Box Scraper Box blade used a sno pusher

While having my coffee the other day I was looking at the box blade sitting in the back. I got to thinking, not gonna get much use till spring. Has anyone adapted a box blade to the fel as a sno-pusher? We generally get snofalls of 1-6 inches, so I was thinking I could unbolt the 3 pt parts, remove the rippers. Add brackets on the back for the JD Q/A and have a sno pusher. I was thinking that a couple inches of sno would move easier, with less stress on the loader than the stone I moved for the driveway. I was also thinking that I could add bolt on runners to the sides.

Anyone else done anything like this. I know I should really just go and get the blower or blade, but keeping the FEL on for moving firewood to the house would be a plus.

I just remove the rippers and leave on the back,I use the FEL to open the driveway,than lower the boxblade to finish up. Mounting on the FEL bucket would mean that I wouldn't get much traction with the rear tires,unless I mounted the BH. Since I have some tight spots to get into that would be a Pain. If we only have a foot or so of snow I can make a cut with front bucket and than lower BB and make another cut by backing up no need to turn around....Works for me

What advantage would the box blade mounted on your FEL give you over the loader bucket? Seems to me the box blade would put more stress on the loader as it's heavier than the bucket.

After reading a few posts on here about using the box blade for moving snow, I left mine on this fall. I recently got to try it with some snowfall (3 times now).

Observations:

I can't believe I didn't start using this thing sooner! I left it on the back (I don't think the front is a good idea) and use it to drag all the snow into a windrow. Then, I use the bucket to pile it up. No more scalping the ground or the bucket filling up too fast (box blade is bigger). It works like a charm and I feel like an idiot for not trying it last winter and saving so much time!

Try it out, you may be surprised. Make sure you adjust it so that it's not digging in!

I've used a BB on the back in combination with the FEL to double the amount of snow I could move. At my last place with a 20m driveway it worked fine. Lots of fun. At my new place I clear the 600m laneway in the same amount of time with a blower.
There are some nice FEL snow pusher mods on here if you search. Last one I saw was wood and seemed to work well.

Worth a try but I think it'll be a wash at best, the advantage is that you would be able to push a little more snow than the same size bucket before it spilled out. but you'd lose the lifting and piling ability of the bucket.

I was thinking about a pusher box, there must be a good reason they're used in every commercial parking lot now a days, but I just bought the larger 73" light materials bucket and it acts kinda like a box holding much greater volume than the HD 5' bucket, but still allows high piling.

I was surprised how well the box cleaned snow the one time I tried it.

I just got a box blade this spring and was going to use for ballast for FEL. Then I tried it for pushing snow and now think I should take off FEL It works very well on my grass, I push back the snow on the west side of the drive to keep drifts from forming. I set the top link to have both front and rear blades evenly touching the ground I love it!!!
