What's a good price for a used box blade. I see a 5 1/2 foot heavy duty with ripper teeth. It looks to be in good condition. I don't know the brand but it's red. He's asking $400. I'm watching the used market locally but don't see many come up.

Depends on How Heavy Duty, and how used...I've seen stuff that is supposedly HD, but does not even come close to the 100# per foot of width that a lot of folks feel is the minimum for an effective box-blade.
Your soil-type makes a difference too...heavier soil, and/or rocky ground may need heavier EQ.
As too the price - If it looks to be heavily and well-built, without obvious bends/breakage, and all the scarifiers are intact - I think it's a good deal. These are not a cheap implement to purchase (if you buy a good one). I've seen barely used older EQ, and heavily abused newer EQ, and I'll always take the former over the latter...
