Box Blade or Grader Blade for 2305

SI,

IMHO, that box blade wouldn't be very useful as a snow removal tool. I'm not a big fan of rear attachments that need to be used for any length of time (I like my neck). Front attachments are more pricey, but work very well. I have the single-stage 46" snowthrower (my dealer thought it would be better on my driveway when it was gravel) and it is about 12-13 years old now. We paved the drive about 4-5 years ago and it continues to work great. Others rave about the front blade. Either way, you won't be having the "traction" issues your L-120 did. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi:

When I do use the grader blade I go forward and run over the snow, no looking back and stretching my neck. Sometimes I use it while I have the 47" blower running on the front. Works well even on blacktop - Just have to be careful with the angle of the blade as not to dig it up.

si3205,

I take delivery of a new 2305 tomorrow, I ordered it with a 4' box blade for grading purposes. I also am getting a 54" front blade (which has up to 30 degrees of angling ability) that I plan on using for snow removal. Front mounted snow blowers are great but a tad pricey and have a tendency of blowing snow all over the operator too, or so I hear.

again I do not have any experience with the 2305 as of yet but from what I can surmise it is more than capable of 'plowing' the snow with the front blade.

I agree with all other comments with regard to the BB issue and that is why I purchased that attachment rather than the rear blade - I also understand, though have no experience with the actual 2305 (as of today) that the rear blades have atendency to leave a 'wash board' effect if one is not adapt at their use.

Orlo,

Thanks for the input. I was wondering just how well the grader blade would work going forward as this is my main intent. I am glad to know that others out there actually use it the way I was thinking. I would think that if the snow ever got too deep I could use the FEL to plow the upper part away while using the grader blade for scraping near the surface. Thanks to all who contributed.
