Box Blade for Kioti DK50SE HST

Hi folks. My DK50SE is being delivered tomorrow. The stump grapple is mounted on the front, Rhino 172 mower is mounted on the back and I'll be all set . . . except for a Box Blade.

I'm wondering whether a 6' or a 7' box blade would be better for the DK50. Will it handle a 7 footer? Mine has R4 tires. I forgot to measure the width of the rear tire track when I was there today, but I think a 6 footer should cover the tire tracks.

If it will handle a 7 footer, I wouldn't mind having the extra weight of 7 footer over the 6 footer.

Compromise with a 78". That's what I use and I think it is the perfect size for a dk50se. Mine is EA's heaviest version. The 6' I think is a wee bit small as it barely would cover the tire tracks in their narrowest position.

My dealer has a couple of used ones that I could get a good deal on. One is 72" and one is 84".

If I could find a 78" one, I'd probably buy it as you suggest. My tires are set to the widest position. I need to take a tape measure with me tomorrow.

Both of these I'm looking at are what I'd call medium duty - approx 640 pounds for the 72" and about 710 pounds for the 84".

I will likely be contacting you soon about a hydraulic top link for my new tractor. First, I've got to get the tractor delivered and use it a little bit and try to figure all this stuff out. Deciding on a tractor, grapple, mower, box blade, etc. all at the same time has my head spinning. :confused2:

I need to swallow the first few bites of this elephant before taking the next bite.

A DK 50 should handle a 7' easily.
My DK 35 will pull my 6' box blade till its overflowing.

I'd certainly go with the 7' model, I have a 78" (1k lbs) on my smaller and lighter tractor and I would prefer the 84" after using it quite a bit.

There will always be times where you can stop the tractor dead in it's tracks with either the 6' or 7' model, but I think a 7' would be easily handled by your tractor. The only reason to go with the 6' is if your worried about the additional width sticking out, but it doesn't sound like you are.

If you have fairly sandy soil you should be fine with that box blade, but I'd prefer a heavier one in all circumstances.

If you aren't worried about hooking a post or barn door go with the 7 foot and use the draft control (top link in bottom two holes) in heavy digging. I have a 6 foot bush hog box and would prefer a 7 or 8 foot.

Well, if it is a choice between only those 2, go with the 84 and learn your new width quickly!

I have a Gannon roller box and I believe it is in the 80" range [never measured] and the tractor does great with it. With all my add ons it is well over a 1000lbs and It could actually be more with no issues. CJ
