Cash, make sure those 6:00x16 front tires have plenty of air in them. They will bulge, a lot, with a full bucket. Also, right under the Ford emblem, there should be a brace for the loader, it connects the two sides and keeps the loader rigid. It looks like your brace is missing.

Yeah the brace is off in the picture as I just had the hood up. I will be sure to check the the tires also.
Thanks

Great find. I love my 1710, bought it with 210 hrs on it in 1995 and it has been pretty much trouble free. Finely had to replace the water pump on it a couple weeks ago but no other major issues, and that wasn't even major. Pretty easy to work on.

Finally got a chance to play around a little with it today. Is it standard on this one to have a live PTO? and by live PTO being able engage it while having the clutch pressed in. I also read somewhere about a diff lock, not sure how to engage it. Got the oil changed and picking up the tran/hyd filter tomorrow. I did drain it today and it looked milky from the rear 3 drains and normal under the front diff. Once I get it to my property I plan on changing it again after maybe 20 or so hours.

Spent a little more time yesterday cleaning, painting and finished changing the rest of the fluids. Will be putting the hood back on today after I get it back from my dad. He bumped out some good size dents, fixed the grill and painted it.

can some one post me a pic showing a good spot to put in a pressure gauge to make sure my hydros are working properly. We put it through the wringer up north, everything seemed to work fine other then a few times certain movement seemed a little slow. Also any good tips on how to tighten up the slop in the FEL hydro control valve. I am not sure if it is the pins or if there are bushings in there, but the up down movement of the lever is fine, side to side is horrible.
Thanks again for any input

These old Fords have s...l....o...w loaders. That's just how they are. Running the engine at 2,000 rpms helps.

Nice rig, looks like the big brother to my 1510. These tractors are tough. My differential lock is located behind my right boot heel. Just depress it. yuo probably figured this out by now.

While everyone is talking about 1700's ... I just replaced the clutch release bearing on my 1715, was I supposed to grease that before I installed it? Please say no.

It sort of looked sealed, didn't really see any room to force grease in ...but it didn't look like a totally sealed bearing. It felt like it already had some grease in there ...didn't rattle around.

It's all put back together and the hoe and FEL already back on ...don't want to take it apart again anytime soon.
