Tractor
Kioti CX2510 (2021)
Hi,
After a lot of research, I bought a 2020 Kioti CX2510 which seems like the perfect fit for my small piece of land. I bought it with a loader and a Workspace root grapple.
This is the first tractor I've ever owned, or ever even used.

The grapple hits two of the hoses when I curl the grapple all the way in. One hose has a tear on it and the other looks like it soon will. Is this something the dealer should fix or is this my bad? I've attached photos.
Also, I've noticed that many of the hoses are not wrapped in any kind of protection. Is that typical? Should I buy something to protect the ones that are not covered?
Thanks for your help!

Congratulations on the new tractor. Since it’s new you may want to contact the dealer. The grapple hoses have to be long enough to allow for full movement of the grapple. I use a bungee cord wrapped around the cross bar on the loader to secure the hoses. As to hoses protection there are protects you can buy. I have used scrap pieces of hoses laying around my shop and small zip ties to fabricate hose protection.

It's been my observation that grapples often are not supplied by OE.
So maybe, the install is a bit more 'universal' than OE - and the OE brand dealer would be an unnecessary additional expense....
The 'hit' if not a pinch could probably be cured by rearranging pieces, you may need to feed from bottom/rear rather than over top, etc.
If you try, you will shortly get used to hydraulic work.
A hose shop may be able to save the tear with a new fitting, if enough slack otherwise.

DO NOT play around with (ignore and use) faulty hydraulics - things fall fast (gravity always WINS!) on failure, and sometimes shoot oil into body parts. Search for leaks with shields and such...

Otherwise, enjoy!

The hose routing is poor. Not only the hoses that are getting damaged by the grapple, but also the one that's going to rub paint off the hood. It looks like the grapple hoses are getting smashed by the back of the grapple because they stick out a little too far. That's not good. Some external damage is ok- the outer sheath is there to protect the inside. But smashing the hoses can damage the internal structure. Not good when there's 2100 psi inside.

I'd show the dealer the pics of the grapple hoses. Either the bracket needs to be relocated slightly or the grapple hoses need an elbow between the hoses and the quick connects.
After that's done you can either cable tie the hose that's contacting the hood to hold it off the hood, or slide it back so the slack is elsewhere.

Basically what other say, the hoses are not right and should never show damage and be in any sort of kink or bind....

I would think a couple of 90° elbows rigth at QC (at arrow point) as some one else suggested would be part of solution...

I would also remove damaged section of hose and have new end put on it....

Thank you all for the replies. I'll run it by the dealer about the right angle pieces. I hope he will do the right thing, and I'll report back either way.
I can handle protecting the hood from the hose rubbing on it (thanks for pointing that out ericm979) and wrapping some old hose around the other exposed areas once the damage is repaired.
I've only run the tractor for a few hours, so I'm glad I noticed this before it blew. I'll stop using it until it's fixed.

was the 3rd function kit and grapple sold and installed by the dealer? If so I would think they should step up and fix what's needed. Seeing your location im guessing that you got it from Twin State in Enfield??? Ive heard positive things about them and expecting delivery of a CK10 in early August.

Yes, the 3rd function kit and grapple were sold and installed by the dealer, which was Twin State. I'll call them this morning. Thanks for the positive outlook.

I just wanted to follow up on this. Jack, who will be taking over Twin State Tractor, has been great. Came right to my house, took one look and started coming up with ways to fix it. He seems like a really good guy and I'm feeling good about buying this tractor based on the dealership.

Great news. If the dealer put those zip ties on the hoses they are at fault. Hose placement is super important on a grapple. If you expose them to the gaps in the rear portion of the grapple, they will get punctured or twisted with debris/limbs. If you have them anywhere between the back of the grapple and the QD mount, they will get pinched. If you are leaking already then you should get new hoses, no matter who has to pay. Good luck!
