Maybe this should be in the lawn mower section but since it is a Kubota I guess I can put it here as well. I picked up a GR2100 with a mulcher installed in the deck for $7800 + tax. Some will tell me it's not the best deal in town and from a price perspective they're quite right. I could have travelled an hour up the road and saved $600 or I could have travelled an hour south and saved $400. By staying close to home I spent a little more money but the price difference between the least expensive and the most expensive was less than 10%. When I started talking to the guy about it I asked him if he could match the price or try to come close to the price of the other guys. He said they would not. He said they offered it at a fair and reasonable price and weren't going to budge. I asked to see what what the cost was, versus the MSRP. It was priced right in the middle (halfway between cost and MSRP.) I think that's a fair price. I could have paid less but there is one other thing I got to do which is very important to me. While I know I bought a Japanese product and the majority of the money I spent will go over there, I was able to support a local business which has been around for close to 80 years. The way I see it, if I pay his "inflated" price and help his business then he may very well pay my inflated prices and help my business. Then we all win.
As far as the mower goes, it's great. These modern diesels are so much more quiet than what was around just a few years ago. Go figure though, the day after I bought it, we get 4 or 5 inches of snow in this area. Even without the snow I guess I would have had to wait a while to use it anyway. Now I'm really looking forward to summer.
