I also bought a trailer when I got my ck30 w/backhoe. I just got a 7000lb because I didn't want to buy a bigger truck.

The day I got the trailer, I loaded the tractor on it, then backed it back off. Haven't loaded it on the trailer since because I've nowhere to go...

rcr, that is part of my worry. Money does not grow on trees and I do not want to spend a lot on something I practically never use.

I'm going to have to think about this some more.

If you don't plan to tow it a lot, and don't need a trailer for other reasons, then perhaps renting a trailer when you need to transport would be the way to go. When i got my tag bill from the state this month, I thought about selling mine. But i do use it too much to rent, though seldom for transport. Tags are $80 a year now! For a trailer! That's just crazy!

Whenever I want to move my CK20HST, I rent a 14ft BIG TEX trailer from my local Taylor Rental, it's $80 for a 24hr day and has surge brakes so I don't need an electronic brake controller installed on my truck. I only move my tractor 3-4 times per year.

I would use the trailer probably once every 2 weeks for other stuff. We buy round hay bales and I do cut firewood etc. Still hard to justify considering I already have a smaller box trailer.

Good point on the tags. The gov here requires tandems to be certified as fit every single year too!!

I'm told that if I have more than one trailer, that all trailers after the first can be registered in Maine. Maine is a once in a lifetime registration. Pay once and done for as long as you own it. Unfortunately, I only own one trailer.
